I support healing from trauma by helping you reconnect with your story, your body, and your inner strength. My approach is grounded in trauma-informed care, which means I work in ways that prioritize safety, choice, and respect.

I invite you to explore not just what happened, but how you responded—with courage, values, and hope. I focus on the ways people protect themselves during difficult times, shifting the view from “what’s wrong” to “how did you cope?”

I also help you tune into your body, calm your nervous system, and release the tension that trauma can leave behind. Altogether, this creates a compassionate and supportive path to recovery that honours your experiences and your ability to heal.

Questions about Trauma & PTSD Counselling

  • Not at all. You don’t need a label to deserve support. If you’ve experienced something overwhelming or painful and it’s affecting your life, counselling can help.

  • There’s no scale for suffering. If something hurt you, confused you, or changed how you feel about yourself or the world, it matters. You deserve support—no matter how “big” or “small” your experience feels.

  • You’re always in control of what we discuss and how we work. Sessions may include conversation, body-based practices, or exploring your story in new ways. We’ll talk about what feels safe and relevant for you.

  • No. My approach avoids re-traumatization. Instead, we focus on your responses, strengths, and the meaning you make of your experiences. Healing doesn’t require rehashing every detail—it requires being seen, heard, and supported.

  • Everyone’s journey is different. Some people feel shifts after a few sessions; others take more time. We’ll work at a pace that feels right for you, with no pressure or timeline.

  • That’s okay. Sometimes it takes the right fit or approach. At Riverstone Counselling I use a blend of therapeutic approaches to offer a fresh way to engage with healing. I’ll meet you where you are.
