Depression Counselling

Feeling Stuck? You're Not Alone.

Depression can feel like a heavy fog that settles over everything—your thoughts, your energy, your relationships, even the things you used to enjoy. If you're feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or just not like yourself, you're not alone.

Many people who come to counselling are struggling with sadness, self-doubt, and a sense that life has lost its spark. Regardless of where you’re at today, your feelings and experiences are valid and I’m here to listen, support, and help you find your way forward—at your own pace, and in a way that feels right for you.

How we work together

I use a blend of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Narrative Therapy to support people living with depression. DBT offers practical tools to help you manage emotions, build healthier relationships, and feel more in control. Narrative Therapy helps you explore the stories you tell yourself—about who you are, what you’ve been through, and where you’re headed. Together, these approaches help you reconnect with your strengths, shift unhelpful patterns, and start writing a new chapter in your life. Watch the video as an example of what narrative therapy and depression can look like:

What You Might Notice Over Time

Counselling isn’t about “fixing” you—it’s about helping you feel more like yourself again. As we work together, you might notice that your emotions feel less overwhelming, your thoughts become clearer, and your relationships start to feel more supportive. You may begin to feel more hopeful, more confident, and more connected to what matters most to you. Everyone’s journey is different, but many people find that this kind of therapy helps them feel lighter, more grounded, and more capable of facing life’s ups and downs.

Questions about Depression Counselling

  • You don’t need to hit a crisis point to benefit from counselling. If you’re feeling off, low, or just not quite yourself, that’s reason enough to reach out. Counselling isn’t just for severe depression—it’s also for anyone who wants support, clarity, or a space to talk things through. Your experience matters, and you deserve care, no matter how “big” or “small” it feels.

  • Sessions are a safe space to talk about what you're experiencing. We’ll explore your thoughts and feelings, learn practical tools to manage emotions, and work together to understand your story in a new way. You set the pace, and I will follow your lead.

  • Not at all. You share what you’re comfortable with, when you’re ready. Counselling is a process, and it’s okay to take your time. We’ll build trust together and create a space where you feel safe to open up.

  • Everyone’s journey is different. Some people start to feel relief after a few sessions, while others take more time. My goal is to help you feel more grounded, supported, and equipped to handle life’s challenges—whatever that looks like for you.

  • That’s okay. Sometimes it takes the right fit or approach to make a difference. At Riverstone Counselling, I use a blend of DBT and Narrative Therapy to offer both practical tools and deeper insight. I’m here to meet you where you are and try something new together.

You Deserve Support

Reaching out for help takes courage, and I honour that. At Riverstone Counselling, I offer a safe, welcoming space where you can be heard, understood, and supported. Whether you’ve been struggling for a while or are just starting to notice something’s not quite right, I’m here to walk alongside you. Depression doesn’t define you—and with the right support, healing is absolutely possible.
