I worked with the Alberta Network of Immigrant women, and the Newcomer Knowledge Hub where I examined racialized women’s experiences of discrimination and racism in hiring practices and the potential of allies to contribute to organizational change. At the Newcomer Knowledge Hub I lead the Southern Alberta Newcomer Research Network and an institutional ethnography that examined how neo-liberal policy eroded service delivery and advocacy for newcomers.

I worked as a research and evaluation manager with several feminist organizations supporting women experiencing domestic violence and sexual exploitation/ sex work. Building on this experience, I partnered with Mario Rolle to work with Indigenous and Black African Nova Scotian youth to adapt an trafficking prevention curriculum to be culturally relevant for the White Ribbon Campaign, a leader in engaging men in the prevention of violence against women in Canada. This work resulted in one brief report that critiqued the moral panic of youth risk and instead advocates for the promotion of healthy relationship skills:
Where are minors initially contacted for sexual exploitation grooming in North America? Implications for prevention programming. (2024). Trauma, Violence, and Abuse
